Enrollment
Pre-Enrollment
Begins in March for the prior year's WSYTeers. Enrollment brochures are sent by mail.
Open Enrollment
Space allowing, open enrollment for new participants begins in the spring for the coming summer. To request an application and enrollment brochure, please contact Program Director Kyle Rankins by e-mail (krankins@charter.net), or call her at (413) 596-9739.
Due to the nature of theatrical instruction, and our emphasis on a "teamwork" approach, space in WSYT is limited. If the number of applicants exceeds a practical working size, a waiting list will be established. If space in the program becomes available up through the first week of the program, those on the waiting list will be notified as soon as possible.
Registration Fee and Required Materials
The participation fee for WSYT is $400 per person. For this fee, participants are provided with a program t-shirt, notebook for filing scripts and workshop notes, a student theatrical makeup kit, a field trip to an area theatre production or similar activity, a professionally-prepared video memento of the summer experience, any other supplies needed during the program, and all costume needs for the production. Siblings of enrolled participants may enroll for $370, with one video memento per family.
Dance Shoes
WSYT provides costumes for all participants, but occasionally requests students provide (if they have available) a basic shirt or pair of pants to complete a costume. In addition, ALL PARTICIPANTS will provide their own personal garments, socks or stockings, and DANCE SHOES.
Because of the noise that street shoes cause on stage, we ask the participants to supply their own dance shoes for the show. This means ballet slippers, jazz oxfords, character shoes, or whatever the requirements may be, depending on the role. During the first week of the program, we will provide WSYTeers and parents with a list of shoe and shopping options and comparative prices. Also, several of our participants may have shoes they have outgrown, so we may be able to network for trades or second-hand shoes.
Refund Policy
If we are notified that someone cannot participate before the start of the program, a full refund will be given. If the participant withdraws during the first week of the program, 80% of the registration fee will be refunded. After the first week of the program, no refunds will be given.
